A 28-year-old laborer from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested in Rajasthan on suspicion of raping and killing a 33-year-old nurse who vanished last month. This is a huge development from Rudrapur, Uttarakhand. Following a thorough investigation conducted by local law enforcement, the arrest has occurred.
The nurse’s sister reported her missing to the Rudrapur police station on July 31, which sparked the start of the probe. Manjunath TC’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Udham Singh Nagar, described the actions done by the police. At first, the case involved four teams from the Special Operations Group (SOG) and the local police. The primary goals of the inquiry were to locate the nurse’s cellphone and examine video from more than 500 CCTV cameras in the area.
A major breakthrough came on August 8, when the missing nurse’s skeletal remains were found next to the road leading from Dibdiba to Vasundhara Colony. This gris discovery proved the nurse had been murdered, and police efforts to track out the assailant were stepped up.
With the help of the evidence and surveillance data, the police expanded their search to include Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan. As a result of their efforts, the accused, a 28-year-old laborer, was taken into custody. Throughout the questioning process, the suspect admitted to the crime. He claimed that on the evening of July 31, he had sexually assaulted the nurse in a remote location, strangled her with her scarf, and fatally injured her skull with a brick. He took the nurse’s cell phone and Rs 3,000 in cash after the murder.
Although the suspect’s arrest was a significant development in the case, investigators are still looking into his past. Investigators are looking into the accused’s past criminal activity and whether or not he has committed any other crimes that are comparable.
