Negligence at Ahmedabad’s SVP Hospital: Faulty CT Scan Machine Linked to Patient’s Death

After a patient died as a result of a malfunctioning CT scan scanner, the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (SVP) Hospital, which is operated by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), is being accused of grave carelessness. AMC corporator Jagdish Rathod from the Amraiwadi ward brought up the matter, pointing out a serious breakdown in the hospital’s medical care. The diagnosis and treatment of patients involved in a serious accident were delayed, according to Rathod, since the hospital’s CT scan scanner was out of commission from November 23 to November 25.

In a formal letter to the chairman of the AMC Health Committee, Congress corporator Rathod gave facts and called for a comprehensive probe into the alleged medical staff malpractice as well as the faulty CT scan machine. A Gomtipur family that had been in an accident in Limdi, Surendranagar, brought seven seriously injured members to SVP Hospital, according to Rathod. According to reports, the patients’ injuries were severe, but the broken CT scanner prevented them from receiving the attention they required. The lives of the victims was seriously jeopardised by the lack of a CT scan, which is crucial for identifying internal injuries, particularly in accident situations.

Rathod adds to the problem by alleging that the hospital’s neurosurgeon and orthopaedic staff neglected to treat the patients promptly. Specialists and other medical personnel are essential to the care of accident victims, especially when there has been brain or bone trauma. One of the accident victims, Atul Chauhan, died from his injuries, and Rathod claims that a major contributing reason in his death was the delay in treatment. According to reports, other victims from the same family are still having problems, most likely as a result of the crucial medical interventions being delayed.

Rathod has demanded judicial action against individuals in control of the situation, especially the medical staff who neglected to treat the victims and those in charge of maintaining the hospital’s equipment. Concerns over the hospital’s emergency preparedness have been highlighted by the occurrence, particularly in light of the absence of adequate medical response and operational equipment. As of right now, the AMC has been encouraged to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the incident and implement the necessary safeguards against future occurrences of this kind.
