At a gathering in Gorakhpur on December 9, 2024, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath underlined the significance of a healthy country for a powerful India. Speaking at the Ayushman Vay Vandana card distribution ceremony for senior adults over 70, he connected the idea of a “Swasth Bharat” (healthy India) with that of a “Sashakt Bharat” (empowered India). As a component of a number of government welfare programs, the project seeks to enhance people’ health and well-being by guaranteeing that no one is denied access to high-quality medical treatment.
As part of the government’s efforts to build a stronger and healthier country, the Chief Minister emphasized a number of health programs, including the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana, and Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana. The provision of free healthcare to vulnerable populations, such as senior citizens, is the primary goal of these programs. Twelve senior folks from Gorakhpur, where more than 8,325 seniors are registered in the Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana, received cards from Yogi Adityanath on this special occasion. The cards offer improved access to medical treatments, including CT scans, dialysis, and intensive care unit care.
Additionally, Yogi Adityanath discussed the state’s advancements in developing its healthcare system. Only 12 government medical colleges existed in Uttar Pradesh prior to 2017, however under the present administration, the state currently has 65 medical colleges dispersed among 65 districts. According to the CM, 16 new medical colleges—13 in the public sector and three under the public-private partnership (PPP) model—opened for business this year alone. The larger initiative to fortify the healthcare system and guarantee that more individuals have access to medical education and care includes this expansion.
The Chief Minister also commended the Ayushman Bharat initiative, the biggest health insurance program in the world, for its accomplishments, noting that it has issued more than 5.25 crore Ayushman cards in Uttar Pradesh. More than 55 lakh people have benefited from these cards, which offer free medical care for a range of ailments. He also underlined the CM Relief Fund’s contribution, which has given thousands of people financial support, and the state’s accomplishments in eliminating encephalitis.
Yogi Adityanath concluded by asking young people to help senior seniors sign up for the Ayushman Vay Vandana program so they can benefit from all of the healthcare advantages offered. In the state’s continuous efforts to enhance public health and build a stronger, healthier India, the occasion represented yet another significant turning point.
