The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH) in Tezpur, Sonitpur district, opened a new library and informatics facility on Wednesday during Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda’s visit to Assam. As part of Nadda’s one-day visit to Assam, the event was one of several formal programs. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, and Ashok Singhal, the minister of health and family welfare, were with him.
The bad weather caused a delay in Nadda’s arrival in Tezpur. Nadda’s participation in the inauguration was delayed since he had to travel by road instead of the helicopter that was originally planned to take him from Guwahati to Tezpur. Nadda and other dignitaries unveiled the new facilities at LGBRIMH, a prominent mental health facility in the area, at the inauguration ceremony, which went smoothly despite the delay.
Nadda attended a Board of Governors meeting at the institute following the opening, where a number of ideas for its future growth were deliberated and accepted. In order to ensure that the LGBRIMH would continue to progress quickly in the upcoming years, Nadda underlined the significance of these measures for the institute’s growth.
Nadda also opened the institute’s main gate, which doubles as an archive displaying the history and legacy of the medical facility, in addition to the library and informatics Centre. These advancements are a component of broader initiatives to enhance Assamese mental health services and infrastructure.
Nadda went to Mangaldai in the Darrang district later that day to lay the cornerstone for a new critical care block at the Mangaldai Civil Hospital that will house 50 patients. The goal of this new institution is to improve healthcare in the area, especially by offering cutting-edge services. It is anticipated that the critical care block will improve healthcare and give the community much-needed resources.
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Guwahati, which is situated in the Kamrup district, was Nadda’s last destination during his visit of Assam. Nadda examined the ongoing infrastructure and development initiatives at AIIMS, which could greatly enhance the state’s healthcare system.
With a focus on critical care, mental health, and general medical advancement for the benefit of the state’s citizens, Nadda’s visit demonstrates the federal government’s dedication to enhancing Assamese healthcare infrastructure.
