Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha initiated a heightened state-wide Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign on August 17, 2024, with the aim of increasing public knowledge about HIV and AIDS. The purpose of this project is to raise awareness among the general people and encourage preventative actions to stop the spread of HIV infection throughout the state.
The start of the program is a critical milestone in Tripura’s efforts to combat HIV/AIDS more successfully. CM Saha stressed the importance of raising public awareness during the launch event in order to combat the disease. He emphasized the importance of thorough education regarding HIV/AIDS, emphasizing that communities with knowledge are better able to take preventive measures and seek early medical attention.
CM Saha called a review meeting with the Tripura State AIDS Control Society at the Civil Secretariat before the campaign launched. The agenda items for the meeting included developing future tactics to strengthen the state’s response to the pandemic, overcoming obstacles, and assessing the success of current HIV/AIDS programs. Saha’s evaluation reaffirmed his dedication to enhancing medical care and accomplishing the 2030 HIV/AIDS end goal, as stated in his post on social networking site X.
The review meeting’s discussion on incorporating HIV/AIDS awareness into the educational system was one of its main components. In order to educate kids from an early age, CM Saha argued for including information about the risks associated with HIV/AIDS in curricula at schools and colleges. The goal of this proactive strategy is to raise an educated generation that can help stop the spread of HIV.
Apart from the awareness campaign, Saha declared that, in accordance with the state budget, drug rehabilitation centers would be set up in eight districts of Tripura. These facilities are designed to help those who are battling substance misuse, which is frequently associated with increased risks of HIV infection. In addition, the Chief Minister disclosed that the state’s ability to assist impacted individuals will be improved by the construction of a brand-new, state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility in Bishramganj, which is part of the Sepahijala District.
Tripura’s dedication to tackling HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment is seen in its multifaceted strategy. The state hopes to improve health outcomes and move closer to its goal of ending HIV/AIDS by 2030 by emphasizing public awareness, education, and the construction of rehabilitation facilities.
