Tragic Deaths in Karnataka: Medical Negligence and Health Conditions Claimed Two Young Lives

A young mother and a student died in two different tragic instances in Karnataka under disturbing circumstances, prompting enquiries into their causes of death.

Vaishali Kotabagi, 20, of Gaudavada hamlet in Hukkeri taluk, died in the first incident. Vaishali died a day after giving birth to a girl via caesarean section at the district hospital (BIMS). Her family has claimed that her premature death was caused in part by medical incompetence. After receiving treatment at the Hukkeri Taluk Hospital on December 20, Vaishali was sent to BIMS Hospital without receiving any medical attention at the nearby institution. Vaishali began to get chest pains after delivering delivery. She reportedly did not receive the necessary medical care in spite of this, which caused her health to suddenly deteriorate. According to Vaishali’s mother-in-law, she was stable until the morning of her death, when chest pains caused her condition to deteriorate. It was too late when she was swiftly moved to the intensive care unit. The cause of death is being investigated, and a postmortem has been performed on the body to ascertain the precise cause of her death. The Belgaum APMC Police Station is handling the situation.

In the second instance, a 17-year-old second-year PUC student from Shivamogga, which is around 30 km from Bengaluru, unfortunately passed away after her college, Imperial College in Nanjappa Layout, collapsed next to the principal’s office. After leaving her classroom, the girl, who had a history of low blood pressure, abruptly passed out as she was making her way to the principal’s office. The student is being taken to a local hospital by the college administration, according to CCTV footage from the campus. Unfortunately, the girl didn’t make it to the hospital before she died. The student’s parents were aware of her medical condition and her history of low blood pressure, according to the college principal. In order to determine what transpired during the critical moments leading up to her death, the authorities have begun an inquiry into the incident, using the CCTV footage.

Serious questions about medical treatment and health management have been brought up by these two events. The hospital is being accused of carelessness by Vaishali Kotabagi’s family, while the student’s untimely death emphasizes the need for more knowledge and readiness for students with pre-existing medical issues. To ascertain whether any avoidable variables played a role in these premature deaths, investigations are still underway.
