Supreme Court Enforces Ban on 14 Patanjali Ayurvedic Medicines in Gautam Buddh Nagar

The sale of fourteen Ayurvedic medications produced by Divya Pharmacy and Patanjali Ayurveda Limited has been prohibited by the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration. The Uttarakhand State Licensing Authority, which had earlier suspended the manufacturing licenses for these products, issued the orders that led to this decision. The Uttarakhand government first announced the ban on April 15, which had an impact on the manufacturing of a number of well-known Ayurvedic medicines.

The Supreme Court intervened in the matter on July 9, directing Patanjali Ayurved Ltd, a company founded by yoga guru Ramdev, to file an affidavit clarifying whether advertisements for the 14 affected products have been withdrawn. This order came after the company’s manufacturing licenses were initially suspended but later restored. The court’s directive indicates ongoing scrutiny and legal proceedings concerning the products’ safety and regulatory compliance.

The Regional Ayurvedic and Unani Officer of Gautam Buddh Nagar, Dr. Dharmendra Kumar Kem, stressed that the ban was implemented in accordance with directives from the Uttarakhand government. He issued a warning to all drug traffickers and pharmacies in the area, stating that any further purchases or sales of the prohibited goods will be met with stringent enforcement of the law.

Significant safety and regulatory issues with the impacted Ayurvedic medications are brought to light by this prohibition. The Supreme Court’s and state authorities’ participation highlights how serious this issue is, reflecting larger concerns about consumer safety and compliance within the Ayurvedic pharmaceutical industry. The Supreme Court’s orders and regulatory steps by the Uttarakhand State Licensing Authority led to the ban on the sale of 14 Ayurvedic goods by Divya Pharmacy and Patanjali Ayurveda Limited in Gautam Buddh Nagar.
