POGS Hosts 33rd Annual Conference and 6th International EndoART Conference, Highlighting Advances in Women’s Health

On December 21 and 22, 2024, the Sheraton Grand Hotel hosted the 33rd Annual Conference of the Pune Obstetric and Gynaecological Society (POGS) as well as the 6th International Conference on Pearls and Pitfalls in Endoscopy and ART (EndoART). Leading authorities in the disciplines of endoscopic surgery and assisted reproductive technology (ART) were brought together for this event, which was organized in association with the Association of Maharashtra Obstetrics and Gynaecological Societies (AMOGS). Keynote speeches, presentations, seminars, research papers, and poster competitions were among the many events at the conference that centered on the latest developments in medical technology with the goal of enhancing the health of women.

As the Chief Guest, Padmashri Dr. Jabbar Patel, a well-known film and theatre director, attended the opening ceremony. He talked about his experiences at BJ Medical College and Sassoon Hospital, where he was influenced by the lessons that helped him develop his comprehension of human emotions, which he then applied to his artistic creations. Being a part of a symposium that highlighted how medical technology developments are improving women’s health made Dr. Patel happy.

Important dignitaries also included Dr. Kiran Kurtakoti, President of AMOGS, and Dr. Sunita Tandulwadkar, President-elect of FOGSI. Both stressed the significance of ongoing efforts to advance women’s health and the development of specialized fields such as cosmetic gynaecology, foetal medicine, and IVF. POGS President Dr. Aarti Nimkar emphasised the importance of this conference as a chance to exchange clinical knowledge, participate in scientific debates, and investigate cutting-edge gynaecological procedures.

The conference’s emphasis on EndoART, a specialized subject that includes ART and endoscopic procedures, was one of its distinctive features. Imaging science, hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, embryology, and self-defense tactics were among the topics taught in the workshops. “This was the first time the annual conference had focused on a specific theme, demonstrating the growing importance of these fields,” remarked Dr. Meenu Agarwal, Convenor of ENDOART 2024.

Outstanding achievements to the medical community were also honored at the meeting. For his contributions to society, Dr. Dilip Kamat was honored with the POGS Lifetime Achievement Award, while Drs. Prashant Mangeshikar and Mamata Deendayal were honored with ENDOART awards. Other distinguished medical professionals were recognized for their contributions to obstetrics and genecology, including Dr. Ashish Kale, Dr. Meenakshi Deshpande, and Dr. Amol Lunkad. POGS’ periodical newsletter, “Speculum,” was also released during the occasion. The conference was a lively forum for knowledge sharing, with over 31 free papers and posters given and discussed.
