Tedros thanked world leaders, including Prime Minister Modi, for their financial support during the WHO Investment Round. In order to generate money for the WHO’s Fourteenth General Programme of Work—a strategic plan that intends to save an additional 40 million lives over the next four years—the organization organized its Investment Round during the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Additionally, the project supports the WHO’s overarching objectives to fortify international health systems, especially in light of new health risks. The Investment Round played a vital role in obtaining supplementary funding for these endeavours, enabling the WHO to persist in its endeavours to enhance healthcare outcomes and accessibility worldwide.
