Metropolis Healthcare Launches ‘Healthy Heart Meter’ Campaign to Tackle Rising Cardiovascular Risk in India

According to a study published in Lancet Global Health, the rise in cardiovascular diseases (CVD), which account for 28.1% of fatalities in India, has become a serious concern. With one in five heart attack victims worldwide now under 40, the number of young individuals suffering from cardiac diseases is alarmingly on the rise. Unhealthy lives, high levels of stress, poor eating habits, and illnesses like diabetes and hypertension are some of the factors causing this growth.

In response, the Cardiologist Society of India (CSI) has suggested that in order to identify early indications of cardiac disease, lipid profile testing should begin at the age of 18, even with non-fasting measures. This illustrates how important preventative care is becoming, particularly for younger people.

In honor of World Heart Day, Metropolis Healthcare is addressing this issue by launching the “Healthy Heart Meter” campaign. The goal of this campaign is to promote preventative cardiac care and increase public awareness. A straightforward 10-question survey is used in the campaign to determine each participant’s risk of heart disease based on lifestyle choices, past medical histories, and fundamental health markers. Participants are divided into three risk categories: low, medium, and high, depending on their responses. A non-fasting lipid profile test is advised for those who are medium-risk, and the full “TruHealth Heart Meter Pack,” which includes several diagnostic tests and an optional ECG to further assess heart health, is advised for those who are high-risk.

Surendran Chemmenkotil, CEO of Metropolis Healthcare, underlined the significance of raising public knowledge of major cardiac disorders in order to promote early detection and prevention. By encouraging pertinent diagnostic testing, the campaign hopes to provide people with vital information about their cardiovascular health and maybe avert potentially fatal consequences.

Metropolis Healthcare’s Chief Scientific and Innovation Officer, Dr. Kirti Chadha, emphasized the significance of cholesterol testing in the early diagnosis of heart problems and the rising risks of cardiovascular disease in young persons. He emphasized that the CSI recommendations’ recommendation to use non-fasting lipid tests can greatly improve heart disease early detection.

With the campaign continuing until October 9, 2024, people have plenty of time to get involved. The survey can be completed in a number of ways, such as through customer service calls, home visits aided by phlebotomists, or QR codes in Metropolis centers.

Leading Indian diagnostics business Metropolis Healthcare is committed to improving chronic disease management and preventative care through programs like the “Next Best Action” (NBA) program and the “Healthy Heart Meter” campaign. Through focused, cutting-edge diagnostics, these programs seek to lower the risk of chronic illnesses and advance a society that values health.
