A major turning point in the development of healthcare in the area was reached when Union Health Minister and BJP national president JP Nadda opened a 210-bed super-specialty block at Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in Bihar. Eight modular operating rooms (OTs) and departments specializing in cardiology, neurology, neurosurgery, gastrointestinal, cardiothoracic and vascular surgery (CTVS), nephrology, neonatology, burn and plastic reconstructive surgery are included in the ₹150 crore new facility.
Nadda declared that the land issue had been settled, allowing for an accelerated project timeframe, during an inspection of the proposed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) site at the Shobhan Ekmi bypass in Darbhanga, before to the inauguration. After several years of planning, the AIIMS project in Darbhanga is now scheduled to be completed. Patients from neighboring Nepal as well as inhabitants of Bihar will benefit from the superior medical care that will be available in the area.
Nadda emphasized the progress being made in healthcare in Bihar, pointing out that the number of medical colleges being created in the state has increased to 35 from the previous 12—a notable rise. He also cited the establishment of additional super-specialty hospitals in Patna, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, and Darbhanga as evidence of the government’s dedication to increasing Bihari citizens’ access to first-rate medical treatment.
It is anticipated that the new super-specialty block at DMCH will greatly lessen the need for Darbhanga citizens to travel outside of the state in order to receive cutting-edge medical care. Nadda stressed that the area will gain from this new medical facility since it would provide cutting-edge treatment alternatives close by. In addition, the city is anticipated to develop as a center for healthcare, drawing patients from Nepal after AIIMS Darbhanga is completed.
Other notable figures that applauded the advancements in the state’s healthcare infrastructure were Gopal Jee Thakur, the MP for Darbhanga, Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Kumar Jha, health minister Mangal Pandey, and deputy chief minister of Bihar Samrat Choudhary. After the DMCH block was opened, Nadda went on to Muzaffarpur to open the Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), which is home to another super-specialty block.
All things considered, the programs are a part of a larger government endeavor to enhance healthcare results, lessen the number of patients who leave Bihar to have treatment in other states, and give the state’s residents access to state-of-the-art healthcare.
