“AI for Medical Professionals,” a new online course from the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIITH) in association with IHub-Data and the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), has just been released. This 12-week curriculum was created by IIITH and NAMS, an independent organization under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, to give medical practitioners a foundational understanding of artificial intelligence (AI). By assisting physicians and other healthcare professionals in incorporating AI tools into their clinical practices, the course seeks to close the gap between technology and healthcare.
A thorough introduction to artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, deep learning, and its uses in the healthcare sector is provided by this course. Attendees will gain knowledge on how these technologies may boost hospital operational effectiveness, improve diagnostic accuracy, and improve patient care. It discusses forecasting patient outcomes, streamlining hospital administration, and using AI to medical imaging. The course offers a comprehensive grasp of how to use AI responsibly in clinical settings by emphasizing ethical considerations and governance challenges linked to AI in healthcare in addition to technical instruction.
The course is taught via weekly meetings, video lectures, and real-world case studies, all of which are intended to make learning relevant and interesting. To check for understanding and make sure the participants can use AI concepts in their professional activity, it consists of tests, assignments, and assessments. Participants will be awarded a certification at the conclusion of the course, showcasing their newly developed AI skills for medical practice.
About 200 medical experts from several prestigious institutions across India have enrolled in the course due to its high level of interest. Participants represent 41 medical specializations and come from 56 cities and 24 states. Because experts from IIITH and NAMS are teaching the course, the material will be both therapeutically and scientifically relevant.
Prominent individuals, such as Prof. P J Narayanan, Director of IIITH, Dr. Shiv Kumar Sarin, President of NAMS, and Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary of the Department of Science & Technology, presided over the program’s virtual premiere. In order to improve decision-making, diagnosis, and medication discovery, Prof. Narayanan underlined during the inauguration the importance of sharing IIITH’s AI experience with the medical field. This was a critical milestone in integrating AI with healthcare in India.
