Four AIIMS Patna Students Arrested in NEET-UG Paper Leak Scandal

In relation to the NEET-UG paper leak case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) detained four undergraduate students from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Patna, on July 18. It is suspected that these students, who are all from the 2021 MBBS class, helped solve the leaked question paper.

Sources within the CBI claim that Pankaj Kumar, who was detained on July 17, stole the NEET question paper from a trunk owned by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Pankaj is accused of giving the answers to a group of “solvers” by giving them the stolen paper. The four AIIMS Patna students who were detained are suspected by the CBI of being members of this team of investigators.

According to the investigation, these four pupils’ names came up while Rocky, also known as Rakesh Ranjan, was being questioned. Rocky is one of the main defendants in this case. Rocky is said to be a dependable assistant of Sanjeev Mukhiya, the purported architect of the scheme, and is thought to have coordinated the NEET paper solution. Rocky is said to have made it easier for MBBS students from Ranchi and Patna to participate in the investigation of the compromised paper.

The CBI’s investigation moved swiftly, and on July 19, they arrived to the AIIMS Patna campus. After detaining three pupils at first, a fourth student turned himself in at the CBI office. Following their arrest on July 20, the four were brought before the Special CBI Court, which granted them a four-day custody order.

The NEET-UG paper leak has been the subject of a larger inquiry that includes the CBI’s efforts and has implicated multiple people. The National Testing Agency (NTA) was ordered by the Supreme Court on July 18 to upload results center-by-center by July 20. This ruling underscores the gravity of the matter and the extensive consequences of the leak.

Pankaj Kumar and Raju Singh were already taken into custody in this matter. The question paper was purportedly stolen by Pankaj, a resident of Bokaro, Jharkhand, and Singh was suspected of helping him with the heist. The Special Court in Patna subjected both of them to a 14-day CBI remand on July 18.

The CBI is conducting an inquiry to determine the entire scope of the breach and the network that was implicated. The test process’s integrity and the steps required to stop such situations in the future have come under scrutiny due to the involvement of medical students in this case. In order to compile a solid case against all parties concerned, the CBI keeps questioning the accused and gathering evidence.
