Dr. Sanjay Kumar Bhasin Elected to Governing Council of the Prestigious Association of Surgeons of India

The esteemed Association of Surgeons of India (ASI) has elected Dr. Sanjay Kumar Bhasin, a Senior Professor of Surgery at the Government Medical College (GMC) in Jammu, to the Governing Council. One of the most prestigious academic surgical societies in the world, especially in the Asia-Pacific area, is ASI. It is currently the largest surgical body in Asia-Pacific and the second largest worldwide, with over 40,000 members. The Governing Council of the ASI is the top decision-making authority for surgeons in India, with 70 members representing various states.

An important milestone in the medical field for Dr. Bhasin and the Jammu & Kashmir area is his election to the ASI Governing Council. Being a founding member of the Jammu & Kashmir State Chapter of ASI, also known as JAKASI (Jammu & Kashmir Association of Surgeons of India), he has a long history with the organization. Dr. Bhasin has actively supported JAKASI over the years in a number of leadership capacities, including Chairman/President, Executive Member, Joint Secretary, and Honorary Secretary. Especially in the last ten years, his leadership has played a major role in planning a number of surgical events at the state and national levels.

Surgical bodies have bestowed upon Dr. Bhasin numerous honors and distinguished orations during the course of his career. He has produced more than thirty research papers in both national and international journals, demonstrating his equally impressive contributions to academic study. In addition, he has given over 100 guest talks at national conferences, demonstrating his proficiency in the surgical sector.

The fact that Dr. Bhasin was appointed to the ASI Governing Council demonstrates his commitment to improving surgical practice and education in India.
