Ritu Biyani Joseph’s story is one of remarkable resilience, determination, and a deep sense of purpose. After serving in the Indian army and achieving success as a dental surgeon, she faced an unexpected challenge when diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 40. Her journey took a profound turn when a patient reacted negatively to learning about her cancer treatment, prompting Ritu to embark on a nationwide expedition to dispel myths and educate people about the disease. Together with her daughter Tista Joseph, she undertook a historic expedition, earning a place in the Limca Book of Records as the first mother-daughter duo to travel across India for cancer awareness.
Over six months, Ritu organized 140 workshops attended by thousands of people, covering 30,220 kilometers across 26 states. Despite the challenges of the road, including conducting workshops outdoors with local translators, Ritu’s passion and dedication never wavered.
Her efforts did not go unnoticed, as Ritu received accolades such as the Manthan South Asia Award and recognition at the DEF Mobile Summit. These honors not only celebrated her achievements but also highlighted the impact of her extraordinary journey, which transcended personal adversity to become a beacon of hope and education for countless individuals.
