Desun Hospital, a private hospital in Kolkata, recently launched its rooftop helipad and successfully tested it on Friday, marking an important milestone. The trial flight was carried out by an Agusta 109 SP helicopter, which departed from the Behala Flying Club and touched down without incident on the hospital’s helipad. An important step in improving the hospital’s emergency medical services was this experimental run. The accomplishment was emphasized in the hospital’s announcement as a significant advancement for regional healthcare.
On January 14, the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) gave Desun Hospital permission to move forward with the trial run. A DGCA observer was on board to guarantee safety and compliance with aviation regulations during the trial flight, which was carried out by OSS Air Management Pvt Ltd, an organization authorized by the DGCA. To ensure coordination and adherence to normal operating procedures, the hospital shared the flight plan with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) as part of the process.
The private super-specialty hospital’s rooftop helipad is anticipated to be a vital resource for medical emergencies, especially for patients in need of rapid critical treatment. The rooftop helipad would improve their capacity to give prompt medical care in crises, said Sajal Dutta, Chairman & Managing Director of Desun Hospital, underscoring the significance of this development. The hospital would be able to provide air ambulance services thanks to the helipad, which is particularly important for patients who require urgent care but may not have enough time to travel by traditional methods and come from West Bengal, North-East India, and other Eastern Indian regions.
Desun Hospital hopes to close the gap in medical situations where prompt care is essential to save lives by launching air ambulance services. The hospital’s dedication to improving healthcare services, especially for severely ill patients who need quick and effective transportation to medical facilities, is demonstrated by the rooftop helipad’s successful trial run.
In conclusion, Desun Hospital’s installation of a rooftop helipad represents a major improvement in emergency medical care in Kolkata. It is positioned to enhance the hospital’s capacity to manage crises efficiently over a large geographic area and provides a quick response capability for critically ill patients.
