July 23, New Delhi: The Indian Red Cross Society’s Seemapuri Hospital, located next to Dilshad Garden in East Delhi, is undergoing a thorough renovation, thanks to the initiative of Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena of Delhi. The LG secretariat on Sunday released this instruction, which establishes a six-month timeline for the hospital’s renovations.
In order to comply with central government rules, the LG office stressed that Saxena has ordered a comprehensive evaluation of the hospital’s needs, including physicians, staff, equipment, and infrastructure. The choice was made in response to Saxena’s assessment of the facility, during which he found serious flaws such as antiquated technology and a shortage of qualified medical personnel.
An LG secretariat official said, “During the inspection, LG Saxena asked senior doctors and concerned officials to quickly prepare a roadmap for developing the hospital’s facilities, which was functioning with skeletal staff and doctors.”
For many years, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA)-provided structure that houses the Seemapuri Hospital has been abandoned and in a state of disrepair. Saxena told officials that he was not happy with the building’s state at the moment and gave them instructions to create a detailed plan for renovating and restoring it.
Saxena also visited the Seemapuri Hospital and the Delhi Chapter of the Indian Red Cross Society’s main office at Golf Links. This famous office building, which was constructed in 1962, is about to undergo renovations without compromising the beauty of its architecture. With the renovations anticipated to be finished in less than two months, the historical significance of the building will be maintained.
Saxena also went to the Red Cross Society-run Henry Dunant Public School, which educates children from lower-income families from kindergarten to eighth grade. He pledged the management’s complete cooperation in improving the school’s infrastructure in order to raise the standard of instruction given.
The LG office’s statement made clear that all projects’ funding requirements will be worked out while closely following the guidelines established by the Indian Red Cross Society. This guarantees that the improvements and renovations are carried out effectively and transparently.
The LG’s instruction attempts to improve the community’s access to high-quality healthcare and education by addressing the urgent problems that Seemapuri Hospital and other Red Cross facilities are facing. Saxena’s effort aims to bring these hospitals up to the level of central government standards by concentrating on modernizing equipment, hiring more medical professionals, and upgrading infrastructure.
