“Chennai Doctor Arrested for Cyber Harassment: Healthcare Professional Accused of Sending Morphed Photos and Threats”

A 27-year-old physician from a private medical college in Tiruvallur, Chennai, has been taken into custody by the cybercrime police for his involvement in an unsettling cybercrime case. Rajesh Gowtham, the doctor, is accused of threatening the couple and sending modified intimate images to his former classmate’s spouse.

A year ago, Rajesh Gowtham, who works at a private hospital in Vadapalani, got married to a medical practitioner. His spouse had been a fellow student at a Puducherry-based medical college from 2015 and 2021. Despite their prior relationship, Rajesh’s behaviour became concerning when, starting in May of this year, he started to receive pornographic images on his social media account. Rajesh later received modified photographs of himself and his wife from an unknown sender, along with a menacing text message that implied rape, after blocking the sender’s ID.

Distressed by these events, the couple went to the Pallavaram police station to report the occurrence. The cybercrime police were able to track down the phone number from which the threatening texts and photos were received as a result of their investigation. It was determined to belong to Cuddalore resident R. Suresh Kumar.

After that, Suresh Kumar was arrested at the hospital and private medical college where he worked. He is accused by the police of stalking people and making threats. To ascertain the motivation behind his actions, they are still conducting their inquiry. Rajesh Gowtham is now being held in judicial custody until the outcome of the legal proceedings.

This incident brings to light the rising worries about online harassment and the improper use of digital networks for malicious purposes. The prompt action taken by the cybercrime section emphasizes how serious these crimes are and how the offenders may face legal repercussions. Although the exact reason for Suresh Kumar’s conduct is unknown, the case serves as a sobering reminder of the grave dangers that cyberbullying and other online threats pose to people’s privacy and well-being.
