A very unsettling situation involving a young man who claims he was given a gender-changing surgery without his consent has surfaced in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. Before the 20-year-old victim could speak with his mother from the hospital and tell her about the horrific experience he had gone through, he had been absent for a month. The victim claims that Om Prakash, who has been charged with sexual abuse against him for the previous two years, drove him to a private hospital where the procedure was performed.
After that, the victim’s father reported these serious accusations to the police in a complaint. Two people, including the doctor who is said to have conducted the procedure, were booked by the police as a result of the complaint. According to Station House Officer Ashutosh Kumar, the allegations against them include section 326 of the Indian Penal Code (voluntarily causing serious hurt), section 420 (cheating), and section 377 (unnatural acts).
Several important questions have been raised by the way this tragedy has developed. It’s still unclear what happened before the surgery, especially if the victim was able to get in touch with his mother before the surgery was finished. Moreover, it remains uncertain whether gender reassignment surgeries are commonly performed at the aforementioned facility or if this was an isolated instance.According to the police, the victim was brought to the hospital by Om Prakash about two weeks before the operation. Under the direction of state vice president Niraj Pehelwan, activists from the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) staged a demonstration in front of the Begarazpur village hospital. The demonstrators called on Om Prakash and the doctor to face swift and severe consequences. Their acts are a reflection of the community’s general shock and incredulity over the purported history of sexual assault and the alleged non-consensual surgery.
