In the matter concerning the suicide of contractual worker Prabhunath Mishra, the Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow Bench has issued an interim order, instructing the Ayodhya police not to detain Rajarshi Dashrath Medical College principal Dr. Gyanendra Kumar and two medical students, Kumari Ritu and Nirmala Kumawat, in the absence of solid proof connecting them to the crime. Additionally, the accused was told by the court to participate completely with the current inquiry.
The terrible death of Prabhunath Mishra, who poisoned himself on August 7, 2024, is the main focus of this case. The suicide occurred after a disagreement between the deceased and the two medical students, Kumari Ritu and Nirmala Kumawat, according to his father, Jagdish Chandra Mishra. According to Mishra’s father, the argument got out of hand when ten or twelve doctors, including Dr. Kumar, showed there and started beating his son. Furthermore, if the deceased did not comply with certain demands, he was allegedly threatened with fake legal action.
At first, the police rejected the report, and no formal complaint was made. But once the complainant went to court, the court ordered that a formal complaint be filed, and on November 7, 2024, one was. To ascertain whether the accusations are supported by reliable evidence, the police are looking into the situation.
Both the students and Dr. Kumar defended themselves by claiming that although there might have been a disagreement between Prabhunath and the students, it was not significant enough to cause him to commit suicide. The petitioners have said they had nothing to do with the altercation or the worker’s suicide, and they have denied any involvement in the incident.
The temporary order’s authors, Justices Vivek Chaudhary and Om Prakash Shukla, stressed that the police could not detain the accused in the absence of solid proof. In order to maintain the investigation’s fairness and transparency, they also gave the petitioners instructions to participate completely.
Because it calls into question the circumstances surrounding the worker’s death, this case has attracted a lot of attention. The court’s decision will be crucial in deciding the next steps in the legal process. The Allahabad High Court’s interim ruling guarantees the accused’s rights are maintained while the investigation into the terrible suicide’s cause is ongoing.
