To make sure private hospitals and nursing homes in Pune adhere to the Bombay Nursing Home Registration Act 1949 and the Maharashtra Nursing Home Registration (Amendment) Rules, 2021, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) recently started a month-long inspection campaign. As part of a continuous endeavor to control and enhance healthcare services in the area, this action complies with directives from the state’s public health department.
Ten private hospitals registered under the Bombay Nursing Home Registration Act were evaluated by the PMC on Thursday to start the inspection. The significance of collaboration between hospital managers and the inspection team has been underscored by the local body’s health officials, including Dr. Suryakant Devkar (Assistant Health Officer) and Dr. Nina Borade (PMC Health Chief). This initiative’s major goal is to make sure that these healthcare facilities follow the rules and uphold the necessary standards for patient care, safety, and cleanliness.
According to the Maharashtra Nursing Home Registration (Amendment) Rules, 2021, nursing homes must undergo inspections every two years, Dr. Devkar clarified. These inspections concentrate on a number of hospital operations-related topics, such as general procedures, staffing, equipment, and facilities. In order for the concerned hospitals to take corrective action, any problems discovered during the inspections would be communicated to them verbally or in writing.
The inspection campaign would cover 850 hospitals and assisted living facilities in Pune. The goal is to conduct a comprehensive assessment of these healthcare institutions’ adherence to governmental and legal criteria. The authorities intend to improve the standard of healthcare services offered to the general public and fill in any deficiencies in hospital administration or patient care by making sure that these facilities are routinely examined.
In order to guarantee that the inspections are carried out in a methodical and efficient manner, a training session for health authorities was held on Wednesday as part of the preparations for this initiative. The deputy director of health services in the Pune division, who has been in charge of the drive’s start, is keeping a careful eye on this endeavor.
