A newborn infant was abducted from the district hospital in Kalaburgi district, Karnataka, barely hours after his birth, according to a frightening event involving two women impersonating as nurses. At four in the morning on Monday, Kasturi, a resident of Syed Chincholi village, gave birth to a baby boy. Disguised as medical personnel, the women went inside the hospital and informed the parents that the infant required a blood test. Under the guise of a standard medical procedure, they took the newborn, but as soon as they were out of sight, they left the hospital.
When Kasturi and her husband Ramakrishna learnt their baby was missing, they were shocked and perplexed. By promising to return the child following the test, the women had deceived them. After travelling from their village for the delivery, the couple realized right away that something was off. The women were seen strolling around the hospital’s grounds on CCTV footage, which was vital evidence for the current investigation. Concerns over the child’s safety and wellbeing were raised after the video showed them leaving the hospital with the infant.
The two women’s identities and whether they were working alone or with collaborators are the main goals of the police’s extensive investigation into the incident. In addition, authorities are trying to find the suspects and get the infant back. Although the reason for the kidnapping is yet unknown, past events have sparked concerns about hospital infant safety and how easily criminals can take advantage of security flaws.
Child safety is a worry in light of this tragedy, particularly in healthcare settings. A one-month-old baby was discovered dead in a water tank in another heartbreaking case that was recently reported from Anekal town, which is close to Bengaluru. Police later located the baby, who had been left alone by the mother for a short time. The baby’s passing has sparked additional worries about infant safety by emphasizing how vulnerable young children are in both home and healthcare settings.
Authorities in Kalaburgi are still looking for the women who abducted the woman. They are looking into whether the ladies were a part of a wider network that engaged in criminal activity, including child trafficking. The parents are sad and hope their newborn will return safely as the search gets more intense.
