The Telangana government intends to implement a “one state-one digital card” program to expedite citizens’ access to welfare benefits and other services. Through a single platform, beneficiaries would be able to easily access services like as healthcare, public distribution system (PDS) rationing, welfare programs, and other government services with this digital card. In a recent meeting with ministers and officials, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy stressed that the beneficiaries should be able to use this family digital card wherever in the state to get health services and rations.
The incorporation of a “health profile” for each member of the family is one of the main characteristics of the suggested digital card. Long-term access to healthcare services through this health profile will improve healthcare delivery throughout the state by giving medical personnel a thorough grasp of each patient’s medical history.
Additionally, the Chief Minister gave officials instructions to research digital card systems that are comparable to those that have been put into place in Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Haryana, and to produce a thorough report detailing their results. Telangana intends to adapt and tailor these states’ family cards—which feature extensive family information—to suit its own needs. These states have successfully introduced family cards.
In addition, officials were instructed to launch a digital card scheme pilot project in each Assembly constituency’s rural and urban areas. Prior to statewide implementation, this strategy seeks to evaluate the digital card’s viability and efficacy.
In order to guarantee the seamless operation and ongoing enhancement of the system, Reddy proposed the establishment of a district-level monitoring mechanism to supervise the family digital card program. This monitoring system will assist in locating any problems, obtaining user input, and making the required modifications to maximize the provision of advantages and services.
By eliminating the need for numerous cards and documentation, the “one state-one digital card” program seeks to ease beneficiary burdens by centralizing and streamlining access to government services. It will also assist the government in increasing transparency, streamlining resource distribution, and guaranteeing that benefits are delivered to the right people more quickly. The Telangana government aims to improve the responsiveness of its welfare system, foster inclusivity, and improve governance quality by utilizing digital technologies.
