Muhammad Mazin, 32, passed away at the Flaunt Cosmetic Surgery and Hair Transplant Clinic in Mangaluru while undergoing cosmetic surgery. The Dakshina Kannada district health authority has opened an investigation into his death. Mazin, an Akkarekere, Ullal resident, was brought into the clinic to undergo gynecomastia surgery, which is a procedure used to lessen chest enlargement.
The procedure took longer than anticipated, even though it usually takes about 30 minutes to complete. When Mazin was not released by the evening, his family became worried. When they asked, the clinic told them that Mazin’s condition had gotten worse while the treatment was going on. After his parents hurried him to a neighboring hospital right after, he was pronounced dead there. Since then, the family has charged the clinic with medical malpractice, claiming that this is what caused Mazin’s early death.
Dr. Thimmaiah, the district health officer, visited the clinic to learn more about the occurrence and is in charge of the inquiry. He had a meeting with the surgical team and the clinic’s management. A preliminary inquiry is being carried out by the health department, and the deputy commissioner will receive a comprehensive report soon. Additionally, a special committee will be established to look into the details of Mazin’s death and the procedure.
In response to the family’s complaint, Kadri police opened a case, and on September 21, the day of the occurrence, a report of an unnatural death was submitted. To find out the cause of death, the police are presently awaiting the postmortem results from Wenlock Hospital.
After the postmortem report is received, Dr. Thimmaiah said that anyone found guilty will face the necessary consequences. Dinesh Gundu Rao, the Karnataka health minister, who will supervise subsequent measures, will also be informed of the results.
This terrible event raises questions about potential medical malpractice in cosmetic operations, especially ones that are thought to be simple. It also calls into question the safety procedures that these surgeries’ participating clinics adhere to. The district health department is looking into whether Mazin’s death was caused by any carelessness and whether the clinic and the medical staff engaged followed accepted medical practices.
If the investigation yields negative results, the autopsy report and the investigation’s conclusion will decide whether the clinic or its employees would face consequences. This instance emphasizes how crucial it is to follow medical guidelines exactly and how accountable measures must be taken to stop similar situations in the future.
