Following the death of a pregnant woman named Raakhi in Ludhiana, a significant case of medical negligence has resulted in legal action against Dr. Rajinder Mani Pal, the proprietor of Kunal Pal Hospital. The case, which developed over the course of a year-long investigation, brings to light important questions about the hospital’s policies and staff qualifications.
On August 7, 2023, Raakhi, a Janakpuri resident, was admitted to Kunal Pal Hospital in preparation for giving birth. Her spouse, Nitin Kumar, claims that throughout the treatment, her condition quickly deteriorated. After receiving advice from hospital professionals to move Raakhi to a different location, Nitin hurried her to Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH). On August 11, 2023, Raakhi passed away despite the transfer. Her death was attributed to a number of conditions, including inflammation, kidney damage, and urinary difficulties, according to the CMCH medical report.
On September 14, 2023, Nitin Kumar reported Kunal Pal Hospital’s alleged incompetence to the police. The Model Town Police opened an investigation as a result of the complaint. A medical board was gathered to review the case during the inquiry. The hospital’s owner and operator, Dr. Rajinder Mani Pal, was found to have engaged in medical negligence, according to the board’s conclusions.
When the police uncovered more misbehavior connected to Dr. Rajinder Pal, more issues developed. The Model Town police filed a second complaint against him on April 30, 2024, alleging that he had issued fraudulent medical certifications. The investigation found that Dr. Pal was not in possession of a valid medical degree. Rather, in order to give these certifications, he had been forging the signatures of a physician who wasn’t even employed by his facility. The purpose of this fraudulent activity was financial gain.
A more thorough examination of the hospital’s practices and Dr. Pal’s qualifications has been triggered by the case, which has shown grave moral and legal transgressions within the institution. The measures implemented against Dr. Rajinder Pal highlight how crucial it is for healthcare facilities to maintain accountability and follow appropriate medical procedures. This case also emphasizes the necessity of conducting thorough background checks to guarantee that medical practitioners are appropriately licensed and that their actions comply with ethical and regulatory requirements.
The purpose of the lawsuits against Dr. Pal and the hospital is to settle Raakhi’s family’s complaints and bring about justice for the carelessness and deceit that led to her premature death.
