Three clinics in Karimnagar run by people without the necessary medical qualifications were raided recently by Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) officers as part of a major campaign against unlicensed medical activities. It was discovered that the three clinics under attack, Venkateshwara Clinic, Lakshmi Clinic, and Lalitha Pali Clinic, were being operated by four quacks who were involved in unlicensed medical activities, such as prescribing medications, giving antibiotics, and giving steroids.
These unfit people—who went by names like “medical practitioner” and “doctor”—were implicated in major infractions of medical regulations, as the raids made clear. They were found to be giving steroid injections and prescribing antibiotics, which are normally only given by certified medical experts, while having no official medical training. In addition to being against medical standards, this approach puts patients’ health at serious danger because strong medications are being administered incorrectly.
The TMPR Act of 1968, the Telangana Medical Council Rules of 2013, and Section 34 read with Section 54 of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act of 2019 will all be used against the quacks in court, according to TGMC authorities. The purpose of these legal requirements is to prevent unlicensed medical activities and guarantee that only those who meet the necessary qualifications can offer medical care. Prescriptions, drugs, injections, and abortion kits were among the evidence gathered during the raids that were utilized to file First Information Reports (FIRs) against the offenders.
The people in question were acting unlawfully because they did not have the required medical training to carry out their jobs, stressed Dr. G Srinivas of TGMC. In addition to breaking the law, using medical titles and offering medical services without the necessary accreditation endangers the health and safety of patients.
Apart from the latest raids, for the past few months the TGMC has been keeping a close eye on quacks and gathering evidence against them. They have amassed records pertaining to almost 200 of these people, demonstrating their dedication to combating illicit medical practices.
The Telangana Medical Council’s move highlights a larger initiative to enforce medical laws and safeguard the public’s health by taking tough measures against unlicensed and perhaps dangerous medical activities. The raids and the legal actions that followed show a determined attempt to guarantee that only licensed experts give medical care, improving the safety and dependability of healthcare services in the area.
