A 20-year-old nurse employed at a private hospital in Moradabad has accused the hospital’s owner, Dr. Mohd Shahnawaz, of sexually assaulting her in a disturbing case that was covered on August 19. A ward boy and another nurse are accused of helping to commit the crime. The survivor, a Dalit lady from a community under the jurisdiction of Dilari, had been working night shifts at the Thakurdwara facility.
The event happened while the nurse was on duty, according to the authorities. She says that on Saturday night, she was first invited to go to Dr. Shahnawaz’s cabin by the ward boy, Junaid. Another nurse carried her without her will to the cabin, where she was imprisoned. Then, according to reports, Dr. Shahnawaz attacked her and attempted to buy her silence about the attack with money.
The nurse allegedly wasn’t permitted to leave the hospital grounds until the morning after the attack. She told her family about the experience as soon as she got home. She then proceeded to the police station with her father to lodge a complaint.
Extra SP Dr. Shahnawaz, the ward boy, and the nurse were charged with a number of crimes, including rape, wrongful imprisonment, criminal conspiracy, and violations of the SC/ST Act, according to Sandeep Kumar Meena. In order to gather evidence, the police have detained the three suspects and locked the facility. Authorities have promised that justice will be strictly pursued and that a comprehensive investigation is currently in progress.
There has been a great deal of public outrage over the occurrence. In response to calls for the hospital’s closure from right-wing demonstrators, a police squad has been stationed there. In reaction to the claims, the protestors have demanded that the hospital be destroyed.
The survivor has an appointment for a medical examination, and a magistrate will shortly record her statement. The seriousness of the situation emphasizes the pressing need for justice and draws attention to persistent problems with healthcare workers’ rights and safety.
